If you’ve known me for more than five minutes, you know I’m a “what if we did this??” person. I’ve sketched ideas on bar napkins, receipts, the back of envelopes — whatever was closest. I’ve been this way my whole adult life. Most ideas were fun… temporary… gone by morning. But around 2021, I had a “what if?” that didn’t leave.
I’m Megan Robinson, the founder/ inventor of Latitude Board, and this was the one idea I couldn’t shake.
Life at the time was full of work, parenting, and the nonstop loop of everyday things. But an idea for a cold wooden charcuterie board kept tapping me on the shoulder. It didn’t exist, and I couldn’t ignore the feeling that it should.
So I followed it...
I went back to school to learn how to take ideas from sketch to reality. Took night classes for the business side. Took local shop classes so I could make and fine-tune actual prototypes with my own hands. And little by little, piece by piece, the concept turned into something real. After years of prototyping and testing, when the board finally worked the way I imagined, I launched on June 4th, 2023 — National Cheese Day (because honestly, what better day?).
Everything after that happened the way the best ideas tend to grow; naturally. The thermal carrier bag came from a beach photo shoot where seagulls tried to steal our charcuterie spread — a clear sign that a sandy blanket was not a solid transportation plan. The Pro XL came later, simply because sometimes you need more room for larger gatherings.
Our small Florida workshop is still where each board begins — small batches, hand finished, and a lot of care. Latitude Board® grew from one “what if?” that stuck and the years I spent turning it into something real. I’m grateful you’re here for the ride, and in many ways, we’re just getting started.
